PRESS RELEASE
August 2020, Singapore – With travel restrictions put in place to stem the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and uncertainty on when we can safely travel again, many people are now in search for things to do locally to satiate their desire for adventure. Families are also searching for bonding-activities that can be enjoyed by young and old, with safe- distancing in mind.
Wakesurfing, an up-and-coming water sport, fits the bill. The boat ride out to waters designated for wakesurfing allows one to connect with nature and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Similar to surfing by the beach but in a safer and more controlled environment, wakesurfing is a low-impact water sport that involves surfing behind a boat, on an endless wave generated by the boat. Without any natural surf spots in Singapore, wakesurfing presents itself as the best alternative.
Since the implementation of Phase 2 of lifting of restrictions, WAKEMUSTERS, a dedicated wakesurf school in Singapore, has seen an increase in clientele wishing to participate, including weekday sessions. “We are excited to see how wakesurfing has increased in popularity over the last two years and we hope that more Singaporeans will pick up wakesurfing, recreationally and competitively”, says Marcus Lee, Founder of WAKEMUSTERS and Chairperson of IWWF (International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation) Asia’s Wakesurf Council. “Our goal is to grow the wakesurfing scene in Singapore and we are committed to providing the best experience by offering quality waves, premium equipment and proper coaching for wakesurfing”.
Wakesurfing does not require prior water sports experience. It is easy, and a fun fitness activity that can be enjoyed with friends and family. As the boat has to travel at a slow speed in order for a surf-able element to form, falls do not hurt. Even children as young as 8 years old can pick up wakesurfing!
Other benefits of wakesurfing include:
• fun workout
• improve body awareness and balance
• boost confidence
• great year-long alternative for surfers and snowboarders

WAKEMUSTERS offers only private wakesurfing sessions. To comply with safe-distancing measures, there is currently a limit of 4 pax per boat. Other measures such as temperature-taking, SafeEntry check-in and sanitisation of equipment have also been implemented.
